My research focuses on understanding positive social development during childhood and adolescence using a strengths-based approach. I am particularly interested in prosocial behaviors and moral development with individual, parental, cultural, and contextual correlates in culturally diverse children and adolescents. My research examines prosocial behavior and moral development through studies that focus on (1) mapping prosocial and moral development across cultures and (2) examining the predictors and outcomes associated with prosocial and moral development using advanced quantitative analytical techniques. Among the outcomes that prosocial behavior predicts, I focus on the protective roles of prosocial behaviors against internalizing and externalizing mental health problems.
