As an early-stage Assistant Professor in Virginia Tech's (VT) Department of Engineering Education, my research focuses on understanding how to foster safe, authentic learning environments and effective collaboration among engineering student teams and research groups to promote positive outcomes, including learning, professional development, innovation, and mental health and well-being (MHWB).
In alignment with the WHC mission, I have investigated the utility of mindfulness training to support undergraduate engineering students' professional development and MHWB. I also have an NSF-funded proposal on understanding STEM faculty MHWB that is in the process of beginning to collect data.
