As a transportation geographer who is developing and applying advanced geospatial data science methods to environmental health topics, I have two research goals. First, my research aims to advance our fundamental understanding of the complex role of human mobility in people's exposure to environmental factors (e.g., air pollution) and health-promoting environments (e.g., healthcare services) by using and developing innovative geospatial data science methods. Second, my research aims to provide environmental health policy and urban planning recommendations to promote the health and well-being of populations in under-explored regions (e.g., rural towns and small- and medium-sized cities in the United States) and mitigate inequality in people's exposure to environmental factors.
