My research examines how exercise and diet can prevent and treat chronic metabolic diseases like diabetes. We use a translational approach involving cells, animal models, and human participants to determine the mechanisms behind the powerful clinical benefits of lifestyle and exercise. The goal of this work is to help determine strategies to improve health and reduce the burden of chronic disease.
