Coming from a background in Global Health, my work and research now focuses on underserved communities in Southwest Virginia, especially non-English speaking communities. This allows me to use the same skills, but more directly impact my own community. My main research focus is investigating the differences in knowledge and perceptions of the 911 system and bystander CPR in these communities. The goal of this research is to improve the outreach and education provided to these communities to specifically mirror their concerns and needs. This also matches with my day job, which is as an Emergency Medicine Physician, allowing me to link people's pre-hospital experiences with their clinical experiences and outcomes.
