Our research project focuses on women's health and health education formats which would be best for using in doctor's offices. I am personally working on data analysis for a randomized controlled trial seeking to understand the impact of watching a video versus reading educational materials on people's knowledge and attitudes towards the issue of infant mortality. As the project progresses, we aim to provide better care for postpartum women. The number one approach is to ask the patients what they feel they need for their postpartum care and education, as well as ask providers how they view the needs of their patients. We want to better involve patients in their own care plans, ensuring their autonomy in the doctor's office. Ultimately, we want to improve education about postpartum care in order to center around what the patients want and need during this major life transition.
