Springhouse School
Springhouse is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, intergenerational learning community in Southwest Virginia dedicated to creating a culture where all life thrives. Founded in 2014 in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Floyd County, Springhouse reimagines the purpose and practice of education by focusing on vitality, relationships, and regenerative culture.
We offer a K–12 independent school accredited by the Virginia Independent Schools Association (VISA), as well as adult learning programs, a global online learning network, and a vibrant community print shop. Through these initiatives, Springhouse supports holistic development, meaningful community connection, and a way of learning rooted in possibility.
Our work is grounded in five core principles: taking care of vulnerability, cultivating personhood, building beloved community, learning from the Earth, and loving and serving others. These values guide everything we do—locally and globally—as we partner with others to imagine and build more life‑giving culture.
Accessibility is central to our mission. Springhouse is supported by community contributions, and no one is turned away from our offerings due to lack of funds.
Today, Springhouse is recognized internationally as a model for transformative, place‑based learning. Through our educational programs, community collaboration, and global partnerships, we share what we’ve learned so others can begin similar work in their own regions.
