I am a professor of medicine and family and community medicine at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and my career has been dedicated to geriatric medicine, palliative care, and medical education. Recently, my research has focused on the care of elderly populations, particularly around issues of aging, dementia, and end-of-life care, along with developing educational programs that support medical student growth and wellness. I also explore effective communication strategies in clinical settings, especially when it comes to difficult conversations and ethical issues in patient care. My work aligns with the mission of the Whole Health Consortium, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing holistic and equitable health and well-being through collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches.
