Heather's research interests in counselor education, mental health access, trauma-informed care, and integrative behavioral health for all people reflect her commitment to promoting equitable, whole-person approaches to mental health and wellness. As a licensed professional counselor and EMDR therapist, Heather believes that trauma must be addressed holistically-attending to the emotional, physical, cognitive, and relational dimensions of healing. She focuses on preparing counselors to work effectively across systems, reducing barriers to care, and advancing integrative practices that support diverse populations. Her work is grounded in the understanding that mental health and physical health are deeply interconnected-each playing a vital role in supporting and sustaining the other-highlighting the need for solutions that bridge disciplines, systems, and communities to support lasting wellness.
